Ряд конкурирующих корпорацией отодвинули свои разногласия на второй план и подписали совместное резюме, в котором призвали Верховный суд США к борьбе с запретами однополых браков в ряде штатов, указав на то, что легализация однополых браков имеет немаловажное значение в признании прав работников.

Слушанья в Верховном суде по поводу однополых браков назначены на 28-е апреля.

В общей сложности документ подписали 379 компаний, от мелких работодатели до транснациональных корпораций, включая Microsoft, Apple, Google, Twitter, Facebook, eBay и Amazon. Так же свои подписи оставили и другие, хорошо известные компании, такие как Walt Disney, Coca-Cola, Nike, Visa, American Apparel, Verison, General Mills, Barnes & Noble. Полный список приведён ниже.

«Законодательство ряда штатов, касательно брака, предполагает равные права для всех наших сотрудников и коллег. В других штатах действует запрет, и они не признают брак между однополыми парами». Это создаёт правовую неопределённость и тем самым накладывает дополнительные расходы на работодателя. А также создаёт излишние административные сложности, требующие различного подхода к идентичным ситуациям, в которых оказываются сотрудники, в зависимости от места их проживания.

«Успешность компании напрямую зависит от благосостояния и морального благополучия сотрудников. Дискриминационные законы ряда штатов препятствуют найму наиболее талантливых из них».
